Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel condition that causes swelling in the lining of the digestive system. Inflammation most commonly occurs in the large intestine (colon) or the last section of the small intestine (ileum).

Symptoms

Common symptoms can include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Unintended weight loss
  • Blood and mucus in your feces (stools)

Treatments

While there is currently no cure, treatments help stop the inflammatory process and relieve any symptoms. Treatments offered include steroid medication; medication to reduce inflammation; and medication to suppress the immune system.
