As a result, people with ITP have trouble stopping bleeding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IVIG is an effective treatment for ITP in both children and adults, especially when a rapid increase in platelet count is crucial, such as before surgery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a 2021 study in the \u201cBritish Journal of Haematology,\u201d 80% of users respond to a single 1 g\/kg dose [<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/bjh.17692\">1<\/a>]. Other recent studies show a success rate of 60% in both children and adults [<a href=\"https:\/\/aob.amegroups.org\/article\/view\/6227\/html\">2<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/aob.amegroups.org\/article\/view\/6137\/html#\">3<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How IVIG works in ITP isn\u2019t fully understood. However, health experts think it may help increase platelet count by blocking proteins (antibodies) that destroy platelets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"IVIG_Success_Rates_in_Kawasaki_Disease\"><\/span>IVIG Success Rates in Kawasaki Disease<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ameripharmaspecialty.com\/other-health-conditions\/kawasaki-disease-10-frequently-asked-questions-answered\/\">Kawasaki disease<\/a>&nbsp;commonly affects children 5 years or younger. Affected children have inflamed blood vessels, fever, and swollen lymph nodes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IVIG reduces inflammation in the blood vessels and can lower the risk of associated heart problems. A single IVIG infusion may improve symptoms in some children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly 25% of children who don\u2019t receive treatment develop a bulge in the arteries that supply the heart, which can be fatal in children younger than 12 months. Luckily, timely IVIG therapy can reduce the risk of this complication from 25% to 5% [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2075-4418\/13\/14\/2338\">4<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resistance rates (the percentage of children who don\u2019t respond to IVIG infusion) can vary among brands [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-023-45092-5\">5<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"IVIG_Success_Rates_in_Recurrent_Miscarriage\"><\/span>IVIG Success Rates in Recurrent Miscarriage<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recurrent miscarriage is when a woman has three pregnancy losses in a row before 20 weeks from the last menstrual period. It affects nearly 1% to 2% of women [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2709325\/\">6<\/a>]. Other names for this condition are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recurrent pregnancy loss&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Habitual abortion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recurrent spontaneous abortion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>IVIG is a safe, effective, and well-tolerated treatment for recurrent miscarriage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors of a large 2022 review concluded that IVIG treatment can significantly increase the live birth rate in recurrent miscarriage. However, they stress the need for customizing the doses and timing of IVIG [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9787751\/#\">7<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in 2017, a trial involving 94 pregnant women with recurrent miscarriage found a success rate of 86% in the IVIG-treated group. Nearly 50% of people with lupus will get kidney disease. The occurrence is higher in children with lupus, which is about 80% [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.niddk.nih.gov\/health-information\/kidney-disease\/lupus-nephritis#\">10<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While appropriate treatment effectively controls lupus nephritis, between 10% to 30% of affected people will develop kidney failure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IVIG is a safe and effective alternative treatment for lupus nephritis. According to a 2022 review, IVIG success rates for people with lupus nephritis range from 60% to 70% [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1568997222001525\">11<\/a>].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"IVIG_Success_Rates_in_CIDP\"><\/span>IVIG Success Rates in CIDP<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ameripharmaspecialty.com\/cidp\/what-is-cidp\/\">Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy<\/a>&nbsp;(CIDP) is a neurological disorder that causes a progressive loss of muscle strength and senses in the arms and legs.
