It is used to treat small lymphocytic lymphoma as well as chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Copiktra is used after at least two prior cancer treatments have failed or have stopped working [<a href=\"https:\/\/copiktra.com\/\">1<\/a>]. It is not known to be safe or effective in children under 18.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-it-used-to-treat\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_It_Used_To_Treat\"><\/span>What Is It Used To Treat?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copiktra is a blood cancer drug. It is usually used to treat 2 types of blood cancer, which are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CLL is a kind of B lymphocyte cancer where the cancerous cells are located mostly in the bloodstream. B lymphocytes are a particular class of white blood cells.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Follicular Lymphoma: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This cancer also affects B lymphocytes. However, the cancerous cells are usually mostly located in the lymph nodes and lymphoid tissue such as the spleen and the tonsils.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In both CLL and follicular lymphoma, doctors use Copiktra in patients whose disease has not improved after at least two other treatments.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-is-copiktra-used\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Is_Copiktra_Used\"><\/span>How Is Copiktra Used?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copiktra capsules are available for oral use. You should take it precisely as your doctor has prescribed. Read all drug guides or instruction sheets. Also, follow all instructions on your prescription label.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take capsules whole. Do not chew, break, open, or crush the capsule.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The usual dose is 25 mg twice a day. You can take the capsule with or without food.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To assist you in avoiding major side effects, you might receive additional drugs. However, it is important to remember that you were given this medication because your doctor believes the benefits outweigh the dangers.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inform your doctor if you have any of the following serious side effects:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edema (swelling)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skin rash or other skin reactions<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anemia<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Severe stomach pain<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Severe diarrhea<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low white blood cell count:<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your doctor will carefully monitor your blood cell count during your treatment. Please inform your doctor if you notice fever, chills, or any infection.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liver damage:<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Signs of liver damage include vomiting\/nausea, yellowing skin\/eyes, and dark urine.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serious allergic reaction: Signs include trouble breathing, swelling\/itching, rash, and severe dizziness.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pneumonia (infection of the lungs)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colitis (inflammation in the large bowel)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your doctor may temporarily or permanently stop Copiktra if you have severe side effects. These are not all the possible side effects of Copiktra. Talk to your doctor if you have any other questions regarding the side effects.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below are some common side effects that do not usually need immediate medical attention. Nevertheless, you should report these side effects to your doctor if they continue:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Muscle and bone pain<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nausea<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tiredness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copiktra can be fatal in pregnant women [<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.reprotox.2020.06.013\">2<\/a>]. Your doctor will conduct a pregnancy test before administering Copiktra. During treatment, use effective contraception. Monitor for the development of severe diarrhea or colitis. Withhold duvelisib.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fatal and\/or serious cutaneous reactions occurred in 5% of duvelisib-treated patients. Withhold duvelisib.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fatal and\/or serious pneumonitis occurred in 5% of duvelisib-treated patients. Monitor for pulmonary symptoms and interstitial infiltrates. Withhold duvelisib.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-copiktra-precautions\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Copiktra_Precautions\"><\/span>Copiktra Precautions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before taking Copiktra, please follow these precautions:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inform your doctor if you have allergies.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid people who have infections like the flu, measles, etc. Copiktra can make you more likely to get infections.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before taking any vaccines, inform your doctor that you are taking Copiktra.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use proper contraception while taking this medication since it may harm an unborn baby.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dosing-and-administration\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dosing_and_Administration\"><\/span>Dosing and Administration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The recommended dose of Copiktra is 25 mg twice daily. Take the capsule with or without food. Swallow the whole capsule, do not crush or chew. Your doctor might continue treatment with Copiktra until the disease progresses or until unacceptable toxicity.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your doctor will provide prophylaxis for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/dpdx\/pneumocystis\/index.html\">Pneumocystis jirovecii<\/a> (PJP) during treatment with Copiktra.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-copiktra-interactions\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Copiktra_Interactions\"><\/span>Copiktra Interactions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some medications can affect the removal of Copiktra from your body. This may affect how it works in your body. Some of these medicines are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ketoconazole<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mitotane<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carbamazepine<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rifampin<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copiktra may slow down the removal of other medications from the body. Is Copiktra FDA Approved?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FDA first approved Copiktra on September 24, 2018. FDA approval was based on the data from a phase 3 randomized trial. At the time of approval, the data was limited. The FDA asked the manufacturer to submit 5 years of survival data to evaluate the drug\u2019s long-term safety.
