No generic versions are available.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AkaRx, Inc., received FDA approval in 2018 for Doptelet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doptelet isn\u2019t a controlled substance, so it doesn\u2019t have a risk of addiction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_Doptelet\"><\/span>What Is Doptelet?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Doptelet is a brand-name prescription medication. The active ingredient in this product is avatrombopag, which belongs to the medication class called thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It works just like a natural protein in the liver called thrombopoietin, which causes the body to make more platelets. Platelets, or thrombocytes, are blood cells that help blood clot to stop bleeding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_Doptelet_Used_For\"><\/span>What Is Doptelet Used For?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The FDA approved this medication to raise platelet count in adults with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Chronic (long-term) liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a surgical (including dental) or other procedures (e.g., endoscopy).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chronic <a href=\"https:\/\/ameripharmaspecialty.com\/other-health-conditions\/idiopathic-thrombocytopenic-purpura-itp\/\">immune thrombocytopenia<\/a> (or ITP) unresponsive to other treatments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Doptelet is used to raise your platelet count to a level of about 50,000 platelets per microliter, which is the acceptable level that keeps your risk of serious bleeding low. Each tablet contains 20 milligrams (mg) of the active drug.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take the dosage exactly as prescribed and at the same time each day. Don\u2019t take less, more, or take the medication for longer than prescribed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Never stop taking this medication without talking to your healthcare provider first. Doing so can raise your risk of serious bleeding if you become injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the instructions on the prescription label. If you\u2019re not sure how to take the medication, ask your prescriber or pharmacist for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swallow the tablet whole with about 8 ounces of water. This medication can harm your unborn baby, so you\u2019ll need to be switched to a medication that\u2019s safer for you and your baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, tell your prescriber if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. No one knows if this medication passes into breast milk.
