RSV is a respiratory virus that infects the lungs and breathing passages.

Symptoms

In adults and older children, symptoms are similar to that of a common cold. In infants and younger children, the following symptoms may occur:

Persistent dry cough

Wheezing

Breathing difficulty

Irritability

Treatments

RSV is very common and easily spread, but these tips will help prevent your children’s chances of developing and spreading the infection.

Cover your child’s nose or mouth when they sneeze or cough

Wash your and your child’s hands frequently with soap and water

Throw away disposable tissues after use

Avoid sharing eating utensils

Refrain from kissing

RSV is very common in children, with most being infected by the age of two. RSV can cause upper respiratory infections (such as colds) as well as lower respiratory infections (such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia).
